FRAME BUILDING Beginning of frame from a single piece of buckram. 1. Take measurements for your head and add 1" for the overlap. (1/2" per side and overlap) Measure according to the instructions to allow for the material and padding for the hat when it is finished. Be sure to measure correctly! Always double check everything!
For reference: 1/8 of an inch is the same as 2/16 of an inch. Often, a measuring tape will break an inch into 16ths. In that case, two tiny lines on your measuring tape should be the same as 1/8 of an inch. Likewise, 3/8 is the same as 6/16. And, 5/8 is the same as 12/16. And lastly, 7/8 is the same as 14/16.
